bottom line is this...
due to unforeseen circumstances the places that were picked to host the BOTB were booked too expensive or canceled,
with the latest being at about 6pm the saturday before the event...
it was going to be held at a park with minimal facilities that had no protection from the elements and it happened to rain cats and dogs in the N.O. that day so conditions would have been deplorable...
Knowing about the weather and the constant venue change I offered my schools gym, allbiet small to the band directors and they agreed that although it's not the best place to hold the event, it's the best place available at that time.
For the participants it was like a bandhead's dream without the air conditioning unfettered head to head competition with a band that was more or less equal to you bringing out the best in both bands something like a glorious struggle, the main complaint that I heard besides the heat was " yo man i wish it could've went more rounds."
Cramped? yes. Crowded? yes.
but it could have been wide open in a swamp called fox park...
it was a great event with no mishaps and great sportsmanship so people stop b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g. about bul.l.s.h.i.t.
