Crab Brother and Crab Sister

Now, this not an "incriminating" question. Everybody has entered their prospective band programs at one point their lives. I'm seeking understand and clearance on a question. What constitutes a crab brother (CB) or crab sister (CS)?I've noticed in some bands;A. If you all come in together and finish the season together.B. It's whenever you "crossed" your section. For example, if entered the band in 2010, but didn't "cross" your until 2013; 2013 would be considered as your CBs and CS's.C. As long as you came in and completed band camp/pre-drill (pending on the school) together.I know there some old cats as well as young cats and times were different when "you" were in the band. But I'm curious of your views of this topic.

  • I go to Bethune-Cookman University and the meaning of CB's or CS's is basically the people you came in with. And yea, as far as "sections" are concerned, the people you crossed with would be considered your LB's and LS's. We prefer the terms Freshmen brother/sister (LB's/LS)

  • I agree with your statement. At FVSU, CBs and CSs were anybody who came in and finished band camp with you.
