This program was constructed to enrich the culture of musical arts within our students and strengthen a musical foundation, which is being lost. This organization will assist and help our youth through music and become a positive representation of The City Of New Orleans. This summer will be the debut of The Crescent City Enrichment Band. This program is a fun, but hard-working program designed to function in the summer to assist keeping our kids active and keep minds being molded with musical knowledge. Also, we will teach life lessons through a musical curriculum and keeping our youth in a positive setting. Personally, if we can save our youth through a program like this, we can keep them from a life of mischief and crime and they can have something to look forward to by using incredible talent and determination.
All High School Students at the ages of 14-18 can participate. The age 18 can be allowed to participate if that student is a recent graduate that year. Ex. 2011 graduates can participate. Bring picture ID(State or Drivers License). Please DO NOT skip your schools band rehearsal to attend this one! CCEB is secondary to your home band. We do not have a bad relationship with any Band Directors in the city and would like to keep it this way!
Rehearsals will be on Mondays-Thursdays, 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. and on Saturdays, 1:00p.m.-5:00p.m.
There will be a bus transportation system set up the following week for students after rehearsal where they can be dropped off at various points around the city closer to their homes. We will address this after the first rehearsal.
Woodwinds-Please come with instruments, mouthpieces, reeds, folder or binder for music, etc.
Brass Instrumentalists-Please come with instruments, mouthpieces, folder or binder for music, valve or slide oil, bits, necks, etc.
Percussionists-Please come with sticks, straps, etc.
Dancers-Dress comfortable and respectful. Please be prepared for exercising and working out.
There will be a rental/loan service established for certain precautions. We will address this at rehearsal.
I, Carl Barbarin, am asking that everyone that will be participating inbox me your email addresses. I am setting up a email list to where I can email music and important letters for parents and students.
We are looking forward to having a fun and exciting debut this summer. We please ask that you all come on your best behavior and be very respectful of the SBW Band room. They were very gracious to allow us the use or their facility and we ask that everyone doesn't disrespect the band room. Feel free to send this invite to other musicians that you perform with.Come ready to have fun and work hard!
