  • I don't play Tuba... I play Trombone but I prefer hearing brass tubas.. REAL tubas. That's just me though.
  • I prefer playing brass sousaphones. They have a deeper bass tone. Fiberglass sousaphones have a more sharp edgy sound.
  • Well, Brass tubas have more of a wider sound, but it can sound nasty at times. Fiberglass tubas keeps the sound good and within the horn. Some people cant play on a Fiberglass tubas because they'll sound terrible. Some people prefer Metal Horns, and some Fiberglass. I'm from Texas and we prefer Metal horns. Depends on where you at.
  • Having played both in college, I have to go with brass. I prefer the sound quality, alough the fiberglass is alot lighter.

  • I like Brass. but I can twerk a fiberglass
  • IMO this is not even a comparison. I'll take the Tin Cans everyday of the week. It's almost an unfair battle. For instance, you can take an outstanding fiberglass section (full of allstars) and put them up against a pretty good brass section and the brass or metal horns will more than likely win 5 out of 5. It's just a different sound. But in all fairness, the fiberglass sound fits bands like SU perfectly, simply because their music is arranged high keys and their horns play very sharp, which makes them sound even higher. Thats no disrespect to SU, its just their style.
  • Wen played correctly the brass instrument is far superior! A lot of my bass brothers think that when you consistently above 4th line F that they are really doing something! The Sousaphone is designed to round out the chordal structure and  provide BASS!
