WHY DO WE EVEN SHOW UP?????  WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT EVERY BAND IN THE SWAC PROTESTING AND NOT COMMING TO THE GAMES??? IF WE STOP COMMING I BET THE WOULD GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND FIX THE RULES SO WE CAN PLAY. REMEMBER THE BAND IS THE MONEY MAKER!

  • i would like to know what others think about this approach?
  • I've emailed the SWAC board when these rules first came out in 07. They are not going to change.  In their reply, they expect the battle to happen before and after the game. The in game rules are the same as the other big conferences. Bands just have to have in game songs they can use that are short and to the point. The only time you really have time to get a full song in is after a touchdown when you can play all the way throught the kickoff until the snap of the next play. They're not going anywhere.
    • appreciate it!

  • That's a gud reason for the gym battle the night b4...get it n like crazy the night b4, that way u can focus on the game more intently the next day. N if there's a 5th...then re-match.
    • best idea i have heard
      • Yea Mr. Guice is right they tryna bring more attention back to football instead being all about the bands whereas the bands are the tru moneymaker...football is more important to swac officials than band
        • If football was more important to the SWAC officials I think they would do away with the SWAC championship game that does not, has not, and probably will never sell out a stadium. They should really think about having our teams play in the NCAA playoff if they are good enough to get in...just my 2 cents...
          • But none of the SWAC teams are good enough to compete against OOC schools in the playoffs.  It could be good publicity for the bands...but it would be horrible for the teams and could be quite embarrassing to watch (PV vs BCU smh).

However, that shouldn't be an excuse.  It's sad that the pinnacle of SWAC football is only winning the SCG.  NOBODY outside of the conference takes it seriously.

  • They won't change the rules...as primary as it is to us, in reality the bands are secondary.
    • I think when our buses broke down and our band wasn't present for almost the entire game in Nashville, the Southern people truly understand the importance of having the band present and being able to play. You can't tell me that a band is louder than 95,000 people screaming at the top of their lungs in an SEC stadium.
