ofcourse it's necessary!!! look at clips OBVIOUSLY the band that has a whole group yanking makes them CLEARLY louder... I mean.. those that don't are just POO!!! (sarcasm is needed in our culture..)
when I hear "crank" or try to describe it I think a NATURAL breathing motion would NOT require you to pick your horn up to a 45degree angle and bring it back down violently. But that also depends because of my perception of the use of the word "crank".

No its not....it sounds bad well to me and yanking i can understand the whole breathing thing but not looking like hydraulics
