  • No, their drumline is just nothing but FRESHMEN this year. I don't think The BOX is going anywhere until alumni and the directors legitimately say otherwise. Some of the line's current instructors there are BOX alumni who are upholding tradition so that it would be a possibility for them to come out stronger than ever the following season. Think about it, if it was true that the BOX was considered "dead", then none of their traditional cadences would be ran either, let alone Dr. McQueen nixing their drum features altogether...
  • YEAH ITS A DUDE NAME TEVIN DOWN DER AND ITS A DUDE NAME EDDIE DOWN THEIR ON THE DRUMLINE GRADUATED FROM CARTER LAST YEAR EDDIE IS ON CYMBALS TEVIN IS ON SNARE AND THEIR ALOT OF SKYLINE AND KIMBALL PPL DOWN THEIR ON THE DRUMLINE DALLAS ON THE COME UP
  • First of all to answer both questions... PV's Drumline are very much so an all freshman drumline for this yr. With 2 great and extrodinary minds behind it as well. This is all part of rebuilding a legacy so b4 ppl start saying that they are the BOX or anything else it is a false statement if made. The thing is that when you loose discipline and foundation it has to start from the beginning. i see great happening for those freshman imagine what they be like next yr. there is only one from skyline and one from kimball that play in the drumline. get yo facts str8.
  • yeahhhhh but their is two people on their drumline from carter so my facts straight
  • no they not your post clearly about the drumline and u aaid alot of ppl from cc and kimball in the drumline. yeah oit is two ppl from cc marching and thats a cymbal and snare player. my post was clearly refeered to the snareline and how from cater on the snareline buddy. and again its only one person from kimball on the drumline and he plays bass drum. so yea buddy get yo facts str8 but guess see you in two wks kimball will smash so yall betta be ready.
  • my bad my spelling was off but im only saying that yea dallas is repping hard....big ups to all from the d... kimball maceo carter lancaster townview soc and skyline them bois looking good saturday. i can actually say that i worked with each and everyone of them bois. so keep it up yall got southern to go thru too. dallas aint trippin.
  • carter highschool indeed is the only drumline in dallas that is southern style everybody else wanna be pv thats why when two school like soc and skyline or kimball battle they play cutt throat and socoast back and foward lol who won nobody because they play the same cadences but if it was us against soc thats like su vs pv sorry i got off subject lol
  • Speaking of the other Dallas high school lines, I simply can't understand why everyone else (except my alma mater) wants to imitate the BOX anyway. I know that imitation's a form of flattery, but dayum! LOL!

I know that during the early to mid '90s when I was coming up, nearly EVERY drumline in Dallas had an original identity COMBINED with what they know about different college lines. SOC used to imitate Grambling, we imitated Southern, Sunset did a little Alcorn, Wilmer-Hutchins imitated JSU to an extent, etc (Heyal, they even came close to having their uniforms designed like them! LOL!). The only line that ever started imitating the BOX back then was Lincoln. Townview didn't start opening up until a year or so after I graduated, so they didn't have a band program yet.

Don't get me wrong, I do understand that a lot of these kids here nowadays admire the BOX for what they do on the field, in the stands and on the sidelines, but I feel that they also deserve a break every now and then in order to maintain the respect they deserve. Nothing wrong with thinking out of your comfort zone to maintain your identity, either, and that's what I think a lot of these percussion groups are losing these days. That's another different story altogether, though.
  • well im am a member of the box and i will be the first to tell that kimball does not play box material and dnt teach ut to them either but every other school u named was gaucking at the box saturday. lol...but yea kimball is all original we dont have to play box material we make up our own material. u bois betta ask somebody. cant wait til these drum competitions cuz you all will see. but yea i went to velt and we were the best kept secret in the late 90's and early 2000's. originalty will win shows not other ppl material.
  • yeahhh i know i can truly speak for my school carter highschool were southern style so we already know what to expect out of all these other dallas drumlines they dnt kno what we will play tho
