Ok it’s time for a brand new chapter of the Prunalysis.

From here on out, not only will I be bringing you the Prunalysis of marching band performances but movies as well.

Let’s get started.

Captain America - The Winter Soldier

After seeing this movie, I was motivated to actually do the Prune’s Review for Movies.
I went into this movie as a true hater.

The original Captain America was an ok movie. Most of the action was at the end of the movie. I felt that the movie itself was rushed in order to get it finished before the next Avengers movie came out.

Although I loved the movie, The Avengers, Captain America is by far the weakest character.

* He almost gets it handed to him by Loki, who easily deflects his only weapon to the ground.

* Cap spends a good portion of the helicarrier battle hanging off the side of the carrier and getting shot at by regular foot soldiers.

* Some of Cap’s most exciting scenes of him in the movie include him running and leaping off of a bus.

* Cap gets hurt not once but twice.

… And Tony Stark basically talks crap to him the whole movie.

Based on these two movies my expectations were pretty low.

  • However, after seeing Captain America on Friday I am pleased to say that Captain America is easily one of the best Avenger’s movies.

It’s almost as if the director s had a panel of people to watch the other movies with Captain America and make a list of everything that sucks about the character.
With this list in hand, the directors fixed every problem with the previous movies.

    * The movie is full of action and Cap really proves his fighting worth even within the first 20 minutes of the movie.

    * The pace of the movie is very good, (with maybe a little slow down towards the middle).

    * The movie is long enough to tell a great story without feeling too long.

    * The movie is full of tons and tons of action.

    * There is enough suspense in the movie to get you off your seat. Tons of surprises!
Another great feature of the movie is that the movie features the character “The Winter Soldier” but is not about him. The story arc is much larger than that.
Let me tell you, this movie is far better than Iron Me 3, and Thor 2 which came before it.

Capt. America 2 is well worth your money. Personally, I want to see it again.

  • Spoiler Alerts

    Best Scenes

    * Captain America picking off soldiers one at a time at the beginning of the movie.
A bad guy’s perspective of Cap throwing his shield through the window of a ship’s bridge.

    * An incredible kick that Cap lands to the face of Batroc the Leaper, a Marvel Comic known for his fancy footwork.

    * Nick Fury avoiding capture.

    * Black Widow shooting the Winter Solider directly in the eye.

    * Falcon & Black Widow both rescuing Cap from getting shot by the Winter Soldier individually as Cap is stunned to realize that the Winter Soldier is Bucky.

    * The Winter Soldier unexpectedly snatching the shield agent out of the window of a car and throwing him into oncoming traffic. Also the correlation between the “Shield” TV show and the movie. The agent thrown out of the window was a character from the TV show.

    * The Winter Solider pulling the steering wheel out of the car.

    * Cap taking down the shield Aircraft with the shield.

    * Falcon getting shot at by multiple turrets from a Helicarrier.

    * Falcon getting the heck out of dodge when he sees the helicarrier crashing into the building.

  • Improvements

    * Very little could be improved on this movie but here are a few.

    * Cap’s one-liners are pretty weak throughout. Blame it on the actor not the character.

    * Cap has a pretty easy job putting the control circuit into the board of the helicarrier (After he’s shot at least).

    * Cap’s final battle against the Winter Soldier reminds me of his battle against Loki with the Winter Soldier easily blocking the shield at least twice. This doesn’t seem to happen at any other time in the movie.

    * The Previews – The previews for this movie really did not do it justice. The previews had me thinking that the movie was going to be subpar.

    Final Thoughts.

Spend the money! Go see this movie. 'Nuff said.
