  • Somebody said this and I agree 100%, same band at a different location.
    • I made that comment because SCSU current band director came from MB. Both of these schools were in the same conference as my alma matar AND I physically played against both bands (2002). I'm not going off of clips but what I witnessed. SCSU program declined after 2002 and MB closed down. Majority of the students from MB went to Albany and Miles I believe. By 2005, Ellis recruited all former MB members to SCSU. When this occured, SCSU adopted MB style (i.e. Halftime Entrance). That is why I made the comment. I like SCSU but it's the truth.
      • i never knew MoB to be in the MEAC.... i knew they were SIAC at one time, then were Independent when they stopped functioning....
        • Nope, MBC was in the MEAC before they closed. I think they joined in the late 90's around the time AAMU left the SIAC to go to the SWAC
          • Nah...MBC was independent in 2000 until they closed; before then (beginning in 1913, one of the founding institutions) they were in the SIAC; they were bidding to move up a division to MEAC or SWAC (not sure which one).  When they closed people went everywhere but Fisk and I believe one other school was offering scholarships to MBC students and waiving the  app fees. They may have started trying to make the move to MEAC in the 90's by playing everyone.

As for this topic...The BD took a lot of his flair from MBC to SCSU and seems to be trying to incorporate the two styles together (but MBC's is coming out a little more).

        • Just did my research. MoB never made it to the MEAC. They were suppose to be MEAC because their flag was added to our basketball arena. My apologies.
  • The Currrent BD at SCSU, Dr. Eddie Ellis, was BD at MoB during their glory days (from 1996 on)
  • Morris Brown was D-1AA Independent before they shut down they were never in the MEAC

  • Well atleast SCSU didnt turn out to be another SU clone or FAMU clone.....i like how they are now, ellis just took what he started at MBC with him to SCSU
    • Well I am huge fan of Dr. Ellis and SCSU... My constant prayers are with MBC..
