Should Marching Band Be a Sport?

I think it should be, because half the stuff we do in band camps, all the working out, getting us ready for season, is just as much or more as football.

  • The fall semester of band counts as P.E. credit at most high schools in Texas.
  • Though marching band is physically demanding, I'm not 100% on whether it can be considered as a sport...not even 50%.

  • Well I just want us to get campus sponsored like the athletic fee I pay for. Could you imagine a Nation Marching Band League with a draft and free agents? I really wish the United States cared about the Arts like that...oh well.
  • speaking from both sides of the spectrum....being in Band and on the Football team (a different schools of course)...
Yeh it is physically demanding and could be considered a sport....however, the reason i don't think it is is because its not competitive everywhere like it is in the HBCU world...
