SWAC Championship Game

this is what swac.org had to say about the race for the SWAC Championship

With one game remaining in the SWAC football race, both divisions are still up for grabs and a berth into the 2011 Farmers Insurance SWAC Championship Game presented by Toyota.

EASTERN DIVISION

  • Alabama A&M controls its fate vs. Prairie View.
  • Only Alabama State can win the division outright.
  • If Alabama A&M defeats Prairie View, then Alabama A&M holds all tie-breakers in a two-way tie with Alabama State or a three-way tie with Alabama State and Jackson State.
  • If Prairie View defeats Alabama A&M, then Alabama State holds the tie-breaker over Jackson State if there is a tie at 7-2. (in this scenario, the championship game matchup is Alabama State vs. Prairie View).

WESTERN DIVISION

  • Prairie View controls its fate vs. Alabama A&M.
  • If PV loses, then Grambling controls its fate vs. Southern.
  • Both Prairie View and Grambling can still win the division outright.
  • If there is a tie at 6-3 between Prairie View and Grambling -- PV defeated Grambling head-to-head.
  • If there is a three-way tie at 5-4 between Prairie View, Grambling, and UAPB - UAPB holds the tie-breaker by virtue of what would be its 3-1 division record and head-to-head victory over Prairie View.  PV also would have a 3-1 division record (Grambling would have a 2-2 division record).
  • If there is a three-way tie at 5-4 between Prairie View, Grambling, and Southern - Prairie View defeated both Grambling and Southern head-to-head.
  • If there is a four-way tie at 5-4 between Prairie View, UAPB, Grambling, and Southern -- UAPB holds the tie-breaker by virtue of what would be its 3-1 division record and head-to-head victory over PV (Prairie View would also have a 3-1 division record, Grambling would have a 2-2 division record, and Southern would have a 1-3 division record).

Games remaining that could affect the SCG

  • Alabama A&M at Prairie View (Sat., Nov. 19 - 2:00 p.m.)
  • Texas Southern at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Sat., Nov. 19 - 2:30 p.m.)
  • BAYOU CLASSIC - Southern vs. Grambling (Sat., Nov. 26 - 1:00 p.m.)

  • Yeah...I will be rooting for TxSU and SU on those game days...lol

A potential four-way tie in the SWAC West?  SMH

  • Congrads on PV going to the championship. I think it is a done deal. You all represent and keep the trophy in Texas another year and then we will get back from 290 to 288 next year

  • I don't quite think it's a rap.......AAMU can still pull it off.....I don't doubt that....

  • dont count PV's apples yet.....UAPB and GSU pulled off victories last night....and GSU still faces SU in two weeks and UAPB faces TxSU next week plus AAMU can keep PV from going.....i swear the west is crazy this year.....i wonder who is gonna end up going?

  • I'm really pulling for TxSU and AAMU.....they can do it lol

  • PV and AAMU control their own fates.  Things will get complicated for whichever team loses.  I wouldn't mind seeing PV in the SCG against either of the Alabama Schools.  It should make for an interesting matchup bandwise (assuming that PV can go out there full force smh)

  • lol...but wat if UAPB beats TxSU and AAMU beats PV and SU pulls an W against GSU? lol...that would be interesting....

  • It is very possible. According to the rules, you would have AAMU vs. UAPB in the SWAC Championship Game.

  • I like this......this is the kind of football that leaves people talking. Cause I love my football team...but if you had told me five weeks ago that we would be in the Championship picture...I woulda called you a liar lol

  • A&M needs to whip up on PV and GSU needs to mollywhop SU, lol
