Taking Things Up An Addiction?

First thing just about everyone does it, Trumpets,Tubas, Mellos, Btones, Hell ive heard tbone sections invert chords.Yea it makes you louder(but not always sounding better). It offers that shock value that makes the listener say DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i'm not talking about whats actually written on the music.Ive seen this cause many HS programs to sound bad.My old bd use to write our music in keys in which it wasnt likely for someone to take it up(smart man).Does it ever click that hey my lips tired and i'm not hittin this notes? nope cuz ur an addict and you most likely you cant help it. A fact that i believe is that a mature player is ABLE to play up there. If your trying to master your horn you should be able to play the highs and lows. But why do you it? could you stop if you wanted to? Do you look at your music to see where its possible? Is it the light headed feeling that you get sometimes that u like? I'll admit it i use to have it bad, it would be something that i would do without thinking..almost second nature.

i'll admit it my name is Sam and i'm a taker upper lol..yall share your thoughts

  • When I read this... It brought back memories of my high school homecomings. Where my former trumpet section used to just be up there and gain recognition. So to me, it's more of a spotlight.

  • It's an illusion of "Loudness" it doesn't really make you louder. it only makes you "Higher", sometimes depending of the tune it fits perfectly. but it's not ment for every tune.
