  • I was present for this match-up in Montgomery, and it was quite eventful, even down to the fight...lol

    -The Motion of the Ocean-

The Motion is under a new direction, I believe, of a former Motion dancer. You could clearly see that there is a new direction going. The Motion seemed a bit more controlled and they presented quite classy, at this particular match-up. Their 1st half uniform was quite appealing. The 2-piece maroon/wine contoured nicely on each member, and the rhinestone sequin that bordered the top of the uniform, and lined the uniform was gorgeous. The field/2nd half uniform was a bit confusing and did not compliment each member well.

The Motion started off with a very strong presence in the stands, but started to tire out during the 2nd half of the game. Their field show was very iffy for me. In viewing their performance from the side, the mistakes were very noticeable. I am not sure if all of their members were confident in choreography, plus there were abundant issues to timing and being in-sync. Their overall tech was very questionable.

    -The Stingettes-

I am adoring how the Stingettes are growing and growing with each performance this season. I was on the sideline during their field performance, and their selected uniform was gorgeous, and the easy flow of their hair complimented their overall look...That was my 1st time seeing that particular uniform piece up close. They debuted that particular piece for a BOTB that took place early pre the season, and it definitely displayed well under the stadium lights.

The squad is definitely finding their strength, as a whole. The crabs have now started to blend with the upperclassmen, in their overall delivery and intensity. Their field show performance presented a new routine. The routine was well choreographed, and the Stingettes floated through it as if they were on air. There were obvious concerns to a few of the combinations, especially the opening combination. The sequence of kicks, leaps, attitude jumps where solid. Timing is still an issue with a number of members.

  • I seen Otis Jefferson's video on YouTube of this battle. And the Stingettes took the field by a landslide!
  • The Motion are moving in the right direction across all aspects (presence, uniforms, choreography). I will say I enjoyed the previous feature more than this one. Something about this one just didn't gel together or flow. I loved both uniforms. I actually enjoyed the creativeness of the blue one more than the burgundy one. As far as stands, the definitely have improved over the last few years and the aggresiveness is there. However, as you stated, on the faster songs during the fifth quarter they started to lose form and aggression. They killed the slower songs though. Special shoutout to the majorettes too.

The stingettes came more ready for this battle than for last week's matchup. Tey was throwing straight fire and I loved the technical choreography for the feature. The only part I did not like was the line in the beginning.  I also love them much better without the short hair style. I think in two more games they will be a force to reckon with as they are still working out some kinks now. Side note, this old school sting vibe Tey is giving is LIFE!

Overall, both teams did really well. I would give W to the Stingettes because they presented a more cohesive front, but I was very impressed by the motion as well.

  • Both squads looked good. Motion is gonna be the talk of the SWAC this year. They looked like a totally revamped squad. Their field feature was better than the Stingettes imo. The Stingettes needs to cut some of those girls. Technique is off the chain. And Dejohn mention timing issues with the Stingettes. And that is another big issue with them! Overall, both squads looked good. But I actually enjoyed the Motions this go round.
  • Field- Stingettes no question. Loved the technical aspect even with the few timing issues. They looked more polished and field ready this game. Motion feature just didn't give me what I was looking for. I actually loved the LDC routine and wanted to see them build off that. I loved the song choice however, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a different version of this routine to the same song.

Stands- This I give to the the Motion. They came battle ready no question. I loved the blend of old and new counts, even Kenya's counts from the previous two season look a whole lot better and as a unit I really enjoyed it. Stingettes gave me a few Yes Ma'am moments but something about it just didn't flow at times imo and I think part of that has to do with the band and the arrangements.

Both squads came with it and this match up wasn't as one sided as most people predicted. Kudos to both squads
  • Babe! Motion worked the Fk out. So happy to see them back. It makes the Swac so much more exciting when When all this squads on on it.

  • Baby the Motion came in with a point to prove!! They're back hunni. Still hard for me to pick a winner here, if I had to say I would say the Sting took it by a small margin. That back row for both squads still need a lil cleaning. But as was said I was entertained by both. Tey is giving me what I need, and Mikayla is showing why she is going to be a force!!
