It's the dawn of the Gip era and everything falling in place slowly but surely. Although it's been a rebuilding year for the band, it's been a very prosperous one too. The Band has been getting a lot of national exposure both nationally. The NFL Season Opener thanks to Michael Strahan. State wide events and local advertising such as Houston's METRO TV and web ads.
Band wise We've got C.K. Gibson as Head Director of bands, and the New chief Arranger with Chris Grey, that's changed the climate a bit on the expectations of the students. We've added our beloved Jermani Justice as Motion Coach, which has brought back a bit of fire to the squad. and Out Twirlers and Waves are looking GREAT as usual.
on top of that New School president Dr. Lane, added a new spark to the student body playing an active role in the relationship between students and staff.. It's like the school is "Alive Again"
We are EXCITED! Texas Southern is on a roll with these new beginnings.
Personally, I won't be at homecoming, but I sure will be there in 2017,

Yeah the Ocean is doing great, in recent years I've had lots of complaints about the direction of the band.
But this year I have NONE. They definitely shut me up and I'm happy they did!
Keep it going Ocean, many people are taking notice (especially the alumni and other bandheads)!
