You have to think, what they feel would attract more box office revenue. Although HBCU bands have a big following, most don't want to go down that avenue, or even know how to properly portray HBCU bands. Drumline came out and everybody wanted to be "Devin Miles"......
As much as Drumline wasn't an exact depiction of HBCU bands..... it did wonders in recruitment for bands. I think another band movie would be great. But then comes the business side... Drumline live made 37 million dollars when you take away what they had to spend.. in the movie world.. thats little profit. Investors want to invest in something thats gonna make them a killing..... be prepared for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes 2 lol
Man I remember when drumline came out at the time 2002 i was n elementary school and remembered the high school band numbers went up huge after drumline came out...sadly though, everybody wanted to play the drums! LOL...I look at it today and I'm like how fake can this get?...sound is off mostly everything was studio recorded the placed in...if they gonna make a film make it real. Like an unfortunate teen graduating high school on a band scholarship and finding his goal in music(and has troubles with friends,fam and money) and while at college he faces more troubles that he think he can't handle(hazing,classes, reading,etc)but makes it out ok and fast forward some years he's graduating in music ed or something...somethin that's good DEVIN MILES was an ass when he arrived at "a&t lol" and he was an ass at the ending.
