I know im good at what I do, but knowing how my band director is, he likes to choose the absolute wrong people for high positions in the band, so im worried he may not choose the right person for next years for drum major. Should I still go out for it? Help please! Lol.

Being if its because of him, because of you or whatever.... if you go out, be confident that you will make it. IF you don't, oh well, it ain't the end of the world. Get back on your horn and help lead the band as an upperclassmen. Just because you don't have the title doesn't make you a leader...
I am confident in what i do & wanna do & know i wanna be drum major,but he just be trippin about choosing the right people.. Not tryna be racist & al or play the race cardl, but our band has like alota white people but also a good amount of blacks but its funny how the white people always get those positions & the people that go out for it not even good,but when black people go out for it, thats actually good, they dont get chosen..

.yeah our band need a person like me to be the drum major..im friendly as heck but i nons take ANY sh**!im like a perfectionist when it comes to marching & playing. :)
