I studied so many arrangers. I didnt want to know "what" they did...I aimed to understand "WHY" the arranged it a certain way.

Helped me out a lot. Wish I still had the time (and the love) to do arrangements. I got a lot of love from so many people. Thanks!

"The Roof"
"Is It A Crime"
"Dancing to the Rhythm"
"Premonition"
"Sadie"
....the list goes on and on.

Watkins had a ton nice tunes, but nothing great. He wrote exactly what he heard on the songs. IMO, it was more of "THE AUG" that made his tunes. Great band program. You can always confirm that by comparing ST AUG and 35. Both had lots arrangements by Watkins.

Roy Johnson and Eric Baskin are the greatest arrangers in my book. They just did special things to so many arrangements. They didnt just write what they heard.
