Baker Vs. Shaw - 2013 (CAU Spring Band Brawl)

"First of all, whoever was recording was closer to Shaw. So I don't think it's fair to judge Baker's volume off of this clip, but Shaw was definitely CRANKING!!! Shaw clearly has the more advanced horn players,…"

Lol i sat in the Bandroom on Tuesday and from what i seen they are smaller than last year and the trumpets are strong. I came at the end while they were going over a new song but i was there when they played "Someday" and "America The Beautiful" and it brought me back to the. I was jamming in the chair while they were playing "Someday". I won't be back over there until the Jam

even if SWD played the Switch song BETTER than AUG,,the 100 was the better marching band hands down !!

i complained that AUG shouldve had a stronger and better fieldshow but they sounded good nonetheless.

those bands represented in Fla,Cali,NYC,Tx..drilled,clean sound etc.

as i often told FISHGUT & FLEA,when i compared the 2000s bands to the 1990s bands i noticed easier drills, weaker knee bends etc !

same thing when i compared the 1990s bands to the 1980s bands although the difference was not as varied !!

remember pre-Katrina when i used to scream loudly on NOLA.com that the 1970s bands "WERE THE GREATEST IN SCHOOL HISTORY " ??

those 2000 bands had some faults but i still think that they were the most complete band in the world !!!

SWD did a fieldshow that they'd did ALL season and we both know that it was not a top ten show for an AUG football season !!

had Fields concentrated more when he put his show together it would not have been close !

another thing, just like the schools and some musicians are training young kids on all instruments now;AUG SHOULD BE TRAINING MORE WOODWINDS TO MATCH THE NUMBERS FROM YEARS PAST !

thats the big difference between the Ga bands and La bands !!

if AUG is playing WATKINS music,i'd prefer that over damn near any band, any playlist anyday !!

b cool

Hey Mike, Ray J. Thanks for the comments. It's always good to hear from all you guys. I don't get on the net much, but I'll check it when I can. I'm presently the Band Director at Algiers Technology Academy. A new charter school that opened in 2007. I'll be in touch when I can. PKF(Purple Knight Forever)
