" SU playing LSU makes 0 sense. LSU doesn't need the money, and SU can't compete with LSU in football. If this was about basketball, then you would have something. "

number1 replied to Jukebox Junkie's discussion Could Grambling be replaced in Bayou Classic?
"1)2 things stand out with the attendance issue. If SU has a winning team, the attendance usually increases a lot. JSU will usually lead the SWAC the years that they host the Boombox Classic. Having 40-50,000 at that game added with their homecoming…"

number1 replied to Jukebox Junkie's discussion Could Grambling be replaced in Bayou Classic?
"1) . If the game was up to 55-60,000 this discussion isn't happening. 47,000 came in 2013 which is still excellent for 2 small schools like SU and GSU. We will never see those 70,000+ numbers again, but 55,000-60,000 is very doable for this…"

"SWAC football is on the rise again with the influx of new, young coaches. I am excited with the direction of SU's athletic program. All it takes is good leadership, innovative coaches, and a passionate fanbase. "

La has always been a hotspot for sports especially basketball and football.

Football wise,.Per capita La high schools are in(and have been for over 40 years) the top 5 states in D-1 signees as well as NFL players..

basketball has been well represented to as La has 2 or 3 of the NBA's best ever as well as a few Hall of Famers..

Baton Rouge has contributed some good basketball players but i dont think that B.R. is the "CAPITAL OF HS HOOPS IN La" lol.

In fact although the Augustus Capital teams and Woodlawn's girls have been the top 2 winners in basketball over the last 8-10 seasons the B.R. boys success hasnt matched..

The boys state winners over the last decade have been from every region.

if u check the stats before Katrina(1997-2005),NOLA schools had more state titles than B.R. and since Katrina not any single school has dominated in the upper classes.

Reserve Christian and CLA have been making yearly runs in the Lower classes...

Now all u Music Major people, esp @ SU, need to get B.R.area schools back to their past glory.

b cool

u dudes will be like me n 20 years..ill be 48 n a few weeks..St Aug class of 1979.

.with all the access y'all have today u'll be able to actually witness other regions and at the level ur on now u see alot of college programs, musicians etc..

i missed ALL the La/Tx 1980s other than a few visits...of course ive always conversated w/dudes & chicks from BEFORE my time(1970s) & right thru the '80s-'00s!

I used to save newspaper articles from back n the '70s but of course the majority were n NOLA and lost n the Katrina Flood..

I saw GSU & SU alot while i was n grade school but didnt play n HS choosing sports..actually was admitted to SU fall/'79 but attended college n California..

NOLA students were calling old Boley Hall the NOLA FISCHER PROJECTS 30 years ago lol

family n the SU System since the 1960s(NOLA & B.R. & SHREVEPORT).

family-wise ,alot of musicians and dancers(HS) since the '60s too.(and every decade since then lol)

I know ur busy but when u get a minute checkout my website..

AUG history from 1951-2009............soon i will add the late 1980s-2000s and will get pics from all the B.R-to-Lake Charles areas..

i missed ur Baker Band but i know that BD was good and y'all were suppose to be the BEST MIDSIZE-SMALL BAND OUTSIDE NOLA !!!

IM thinking i saw video @ SU and @ WM n the early '00s..Clinton was nice but too SU back then..

I actually went to Baker.McKinley,Capitol,Scotlandville & Istrouma during football seasons to watch the bands practice n fall 2005 -2007 AFTER KATRINA !!

When i was tired of commuting from Cali to NOLA i rented an apt n B.R. until i complete the home rebuilding n NOLA !!

when u check my site u will see n the Football & Basketball Albums where the Black schools all played each other before integration..

Im gonna blow u HBCU folks' mind soon..i have some SU pics thats gonna trip y'all out !!

good luck n ur studies as well as ur music career..

b safe
