The Provine High School marching band took home the first place trophy and bragging rights following the City of Jackson's Annual Christmas Parade on December 6. Known in high school band circles as the Pride of Provine, band members performed a medley of holiday favorites as well as some songs from the band's regular season field shows. The band was awarded the city's top high school honor for an outstanding holiday performance.
No strangers to success or accolades, the band also received Superior ratings following the Mississippi High School Activities Association's state Band Festival held in October.
Band director Carlton Williams is proud of his band students, but particularly notes the accomplishments of several seniors. "Several of them are top achievers in their class while holding key positions in the band program such as drum majors and section captains," said Williams.
