Before You Jump into a Band Hole

Hey all, before you jump to a full scholarship, remember this. A FULL scholarship means, room, board, tuition, and books. If a recruiter does not clarify this fact, think twice. Find out what each schools' definition of a FULL scholarship means. Last but not least, check out the fees. For example, a school may offer a student a $3,000.00 per semester scholarship. Sounds good huh? But, if the school costs $10.000.00 per semester, you will have to come up with the other $7,000.00. But if a school offers you an $800.00 scholarship, that doesn't sound impressive right? But what if it costs $7,000.00 per semester to attend? You have to come up with the other $6,200.00. Hey,,,what you going to school for? To be in a famous band?, or be in an outstanding band at a school you attend at a bargain price. There are a lot of excellent programs out there like that. Especially at Langston.Interested? Call Mr. J at 405-466-3418. If you need proof, go to You Tube and type in Langston University Marching Band. Oh by the way, they have been to the Honda 3 times.

  • i say who ever offers you at least 3 thousand you should give some thought
  • The "dollar" amount is and should be a factor in choosing what band you march for in college! But the "KEY" should be the quality of the university and the percentage amount your education is covered! Bargains are always good just like in dominoes, All money ain't good money! Look at all aspects and factor that apply such as:

    Major of study.
    Quality of program.
    Distance from your home town.
    The Over-All cost to attend.

Remember, You can go to barber college for the cheap!
You can buy Jordan's for $40 at the barber shop!

Some universities will take you just to have you without considering YOU in the process! Your ability is the key and what you can bring to a program. Don't fall for the O-Kee-Doke because at any given time they will end up explioting you!
Talk with your parents, friends, and members of the school you want to attend and not be "Bam-booz-led into jioning a one-horse out fit! Research all aspects that are important to you and make the RIGHT choice!!!

  • so if ur gonna major n music about how much would it cost a semester
  • The only thing I agree with is not choosing a school based on the band.

Some people are too weak minded when it comes to looking at numbers, which is why I don't agree with this style of recruiting for schools. A large number of students coming out of HS need to enroll into a Community College before attending a University. I don't see how a poor performing HS student thinks he is ready for College level then they end up dropping out... But some schools just want those enrollment numbers every fall and its sickening, they are using people. Many parents are also uneducated about the process and will go for anything.
Colleges are trying to sell something, its like walking into WalMart and seeing a $1 20oz in the cooler vs the same branded 2 liter for $1.00 on the aisle. The store will show you numbers vs what benefits you get, like buying a liter is like having almost four 20oz drinks. A person who researches will realize that buying the 20oz isn't a bargain, just the store dressed it up to make money.

Same concept for choosing a school... They will flash numbers and not disclose other things unless you go snooping.

All some ppl want is a "refund" and are worried about getting paid to go to school, and schools are feeding into this idiocy... You go to college and you pay the school for receiving a great education, not the other way around. Any school who does that should be questioned. If you consider yourself a top tier student then there are many financial options to get you through school once accepted. STOP LOOKING FOR HANDOUTS PEOPLE!
