i have a question for all yall college musicians and band director and band heads.. as a musician when you see 2 bands battle face to face do you judge the section by itself?? or overall the bands all together?,,...l;ike how my band director teaches me you judge the whole band & see if they good or not due to the fact that if you judgin section by section the nthat menas that section mught be over powwerin the band 1st bcz is d deepest section @nd tryin to get a shine time etc..tell me something cz i ws in the situatin that they "only" judge the mello section and it epends on the whole band not only that section bcz that section is not the whole band...

sections do matter...but not when judgin when i judge i judge balance and over all sound..im not gonna say they won cux they trumpet section kicks ass...even though if your trumpet section is better...you usually win...unless your southern...lol..but seriously...balance and sound
if you judge the entire band then you would by definition be judging the sections because the band is made up of those sections....as long as each one plays their role then you end up with a good product

Well you should judge a band not just by sound and balance...but there style,postier,disapline,and showmanship/there show...it all depends on were your battling...like if its a foot ball game leave the shomanship and show part in...but if your in a parking lot then leave the show part out......but if a setion sticking out...somtimes our fellow BD can help that because that maybe all they have at the moment......but then again....you have these retarted bands that just play to exstreamly loud with no porpuse oor concept...eaither way (lil Angel Mello) when you decide to judge a band you dont need to leave out anything if a section sticks out...just take that as the band needs to learn how to blend more.....now to me arrangments play a bigger part.... Now I understand if your band can do certain stuff yet but....there are way to write were you band can sound like they can play.....but yeah ANGEL MELLO...dose that HELP????
I KNOW....LOL...But visual plays a bigg part to.... you just can be cocking all over the place.......that looks very country but hey thats just me...so whats new scream?

They play a bigger role to the band, and yeah they can help or hinder the outcome of the battle, but overall its the balance and blend of ALL sections
