Hazing .....Whats the point?

Whether you be in the band or a greek or whatever. Somebody been threw something at some point in they lives. What is the purpose of Hazing? Have you ever been Hazed? Why do we continue this tradition? I went threw it but when you go threw its like youve scored a touchdown, Youve earned respect....Why? Im good on my horn I ran my laps I worked hard and worked out more than you did but I must go through more shit...Why? Because I am a freshman? Bullshit I feel that if I earn my keep and I bust my ass then thats should be good enough right their Im not the type of person to be messed with really....I work, I play, I practice to get better than I was yesterday and no amount of crossing and screamin is going to change what I have already done for myself.....So Why? Any answers,Questions? Reasons? Id like to Hear em

Suppose to show people that they can be pushed further than they expect... but the physical part has to have something to do with slavery and people proven their toughness to each other back in the day. At least dats my take on it...

It's not necessary to take hazing to levels that will have people pretty much losing their dignity and self respect honestly there's only so much you should be willing to do to "prove" to other people that you are worthy, of doing something you are that YOU know you're good at. Really the only person you should be proving anything to is you, yourself and YOU! No one else's approval is needed. Sometimes while being hazed you will find out what you're strengths and weaknesses are by going through that stuff but like I said how far are you willing to go. Whatever I want I will work for it whether it be to be a in a sorority or to gain acceptance into a band program, I am only going to go so far to gain any acceptance into anything.... The question I ask people all the time is "how far are you willing to go?"
