200 members because i would want a lot of students to enjoy the wonderful joys of music. Also, i would be able to create very interesting formations and drills.
As far as high school goes, 48 - 64. About the size of most Louisiana show bands. That's nice field show numbers. Get every member playing at the same caliber, superior sound.
There isnt many formations you can make with sucha small number

If you were a band director what would be the perfect size band?
Im curious to know, if you were a director(high school or college) what would be the perfect size and why?
Yea there is. They might not be a spectacular than the larger number drills. But they would work for me.

130...because that's enough to give a full and massive sound. and enough to go on the field with a surround sound.. especially enough to put at least 3 letters on the field ..lol
High school~ about 10 tubas 15 trumpets 8 mellos 6 btones 10 trombones 5 pics and 10 cnets 7 saxs two drummajors
College ~ 30 tubas 40 trumpets 17 mellos 18 btones 30 tbones 10 pics and 25 cnets and 20 saxs. Five drummajors

As long as the instrumentation is right (WITH NO DEAD WEIGHT!!!), you can get by with any number.
I'd like to have ratios like this:
1 tuba:2 baritones:3 trombones:2 mellos/French horns:4 trumpets:3 saxes:4-5 clarinets:2-3 flutes
Drum section:
8 cymbals
8 snares
4 multis (quads, quints, sextets)
4 tenors
4 basses
