  • The reason why bands are falling off has nothing to do with playing older music. The music of today isn't worth crap anyway.
  • whoever made this thread is as slaw as thier bands...
  • Please say it again...

  • Felicia, I'm with you except for 1 thing...

I know where you're coming from, but you just have to be willing to look into other genres of music. There's plenty of quality music today, but you won't find it on BET or MTV. But I do agree with you.

Darian - My high school band director had his albums and a record player in the bandroom. When we walked in, he might be playing Cameo, Rick James, or whatever. But this gave us a chance to actually hear the songs that we were playing. That way, we actually knew what we were playing was supposed to sound like.

  • I didn't mean all genres. I meant the music that seem to be on repeat on the radio and TV. You have to go beyond the Top 40 to get to some quality music.

  • Spoken Like a true Youngster. If you love band and music it doesn't matter if the song is old or new. If the song is tight and has a good sound to it, i'll play it. Some the best music to me, band wise comes from the 80's. Back then it wasn't just a baseline and a melody.
  • Thank you!

  • Yep...ima say the same thing that everyone else is saying...the hiphop music or top 40 or whatever this shit is. IT AINT WORTH THE TIME IF THATS ALL YOU PLAYING!!!! I'd rather play old school tunes because it actually makes the band better, but only a band with musicians who are willing to learn anything...not a band with one in each section and they the only ones playing!

Band A- Getaway, In The Stone, Sir Duke, Black and Blues, Malaguena

Band B- Torture, Vice Versa, Swang, Vibe, Right Above It

Which band would get better if they stay on that same path? Which band would get selected to do honorable performances? Which band would get more respect from those who honor true music? Which Band KNOWS they are the better one by not how loud they play but how much musicianship they have while playing?

    I'll wait....

  • Sad to say i must agree. The music being put out today isnt even worth arranging. Hell all i hear nowadays is mostly one hit wonders.
