North Forest BOTB

Dear Band Directors/Bandheads:

 

It’s that time of year again!  We are making preparations forour annual “Battle of the Bands” to be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 @ James Cowart Stadium (behind North ForestHigh School) 10725 Mesa Road Houston,Texas 77016.

 

Bands from Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi have been invited to compete during this great event!  We consider it an honor to extendan invitation for your fine organization to participate.

 

Emphasis will be placed on marching techniques, sound and precision.  Each band’s performance should not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.

 

Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in these categories:

                        *Band

                        *Drum Major

                        *Dance/Drill Team

                        *Twirlers/Majorettes

                        *Color Guard

A participation trophy will also be awarded to those Bands that do not place.

    The Band awards will be split into size divisions based on the number of entries we receive (usually 4 band per division). This gives everyone a better chance at EARNING something to take home.

    COOL DAVIS WILL BE THERE I JUST GO THE OKAY.. FROM ADMIN'S TODAY...... I REALLY THINK THe SMALL BAND DIVISION WILL BE A MONSTER ... MAN SO MANY FOLKS..LOL

    I'm wondering how we'll do the divisions...32 is medium size these days.

    Small - 16 and under?
    Medium - 16-32?
    Large - over 32?

    (These are not official.)

    Everybody has a 6 piece, a biscuit, and a side this year.

    23 n under(small)
    24-47(Medium)
    48+(Large)

    But it depends on who is going....if you get bands from LA again that are 72+ Then there might be a problem.

    Actually...my freshman year back in 2007 the Forest Brook BOTB was Small Band Catagory n Large Band Catagory. and from what i have seen though from Houston...there is only a few bands hitting more then 48! Jeff Davis i see ya'll!

    but if it were like that. Small band catagory would dominate no matter what. but like i said...its all on who comes

    well its not that....... its just you could have 120 easy in the state of texas but most of these kids dont want to work... they just want to be lazy..... and skate board.. or play you-gio..... or nintendo DS.. crap... i have 8 trombones.. players in my band.... at the begin of the season.. i had 17... but the other half... started saying that they had to go skate boards.. and i got a pokemon tornament.. to attend or .. well I dont like doing push ups.... lazy (motha-freakers)... man it laike that every were its like you have =to find a good nucleus and grow it from there......AHHH. that felt better..LMAO

    17 tbones!?!?!?!? I'm afraid to ask what did the other sections look like before people quit. But i agree with you but it is not just in Houston...look in Dallas and all over Louisiana.. Bands are slowly coming back from the sudden drop 4 or 5 years ago. There is even bands i grew up with not around anymore. Though what i've noticed. the people that have quit are either the main ones who will always be affiliated with the band some how or will be the people who talk nothing but crap about the program.
    Right?
