The Good Ole Days!!!

So I'll be 30 on the 13th and was sitting here watching this clip of when I was D-major at SU's Band camp and remembering how good it was to be a kid in love with instrumental music and how far I've come from it being apart of my life.
Feel free to share your favorite or leave a clip of your most memorable High School Band moment if available.

  • It is amazing that I can't find any clips of when I was high school of my band. We were in some very heated battles and won a ton of competitions, but it seems the people aren't posting those old vids, even the ones we did against Washington-Marion.

    1. Our band was scheduled on the first night of district festival(also known as the night all of the top area bands perform), we were sandwiched between East Ascension's Symphonic Winds,Dutchtown's Wind Symphony and St. Amant's Wind Symphony. Anybody from the BR area can tell that these 3 schools are not only the best BR area bands, but some of the best in the state. Did I forget to mention were the only black school performing that night in front of a packed house of band directors, parents, and band members. We went on stage and played the heck out of our songs, including a song called Folk Dances by Dmitri Shostakovich. After we were done, we received a standing ovation, and Southeastern's band director (one of the judges) was so impressed that he came to do a clinic/recruitment tour in our band room. The Baker High School Symphonic Band was great back when I was in high school, and it was always expected that we make straight 1's at festival.

    2. 2003 WM BOTB, not only did we beat M.B. Smiley in competition, but we also had a marathon battle with them and WM. This was one of many big battles that we had with Washington-Marion.

  • That was the era of VHS! lol

I have no idea where my tape is of that BOTB. I'm sure Haymer has it tho. That was an epic battle afterwards tho!!!

  • I wish I had some old skool Landry and John Mac footage from when I was in attendance. Landry 94-96/ John Mac 97-99.
Tapemaster... I know you got something. Lol!
I bet you don't have Landry when Magruder from J-state was there. Early 90's.
Been waitin for you to post SU playing Dancing To The Rhythm too.
