  • its still open but the shift may occour within the next year or so.

Walker is the least of my concern because we know what's happening with them. the school sits on Military Property so they HAVE to move.

Im a traditionalist in a sense and i believe in longevity of  bands historically speaking, but when things change. You just go to another place and  Recreate from the ground up.

on the bright side..There's Easton, Landry & Wright

  • So will they just open up a new O.P.Walker? or just rezone the students?

  • OPW stands...........Directly behind St.Augustine

  • I believe they will get all the Students to go to Landry

Where Does OPW stand right now?
Hey wats up with o perry walker high school?...i heard that their school was merging or closing down or something. Any truth to all of this?...
  • Man this is the first time I ever head of Landry, I thought that was a middle school and I thought Wright was a middle school. Google search time.

  • There aren't any fields around wright as far a a practice field for a band.

  • L.B.Landry was the 1st high school for Black students on the Westbank of New Orleans(Algiers neighborhood) ...when OPW opened it was all white..Karr was a jr high which also was for white kids in its infancy..All three schools were under the Orleans Parish School Board pre-Katrina...

Wright, located in Uptown NOLA is 1 of the oldest schools in Louisiana.also at 1 time an all white school..It started as a all girls school and has been a high school,jr high school and now a coed high school with a full music program and sports teams..

  • OPW and Landry are merging into their own high school under a different name. They're just going to be in Landry's new building.

  • Hmmmm, which only means more members in band....This could possibly be what New Orleans need...
